Adobe has released security updates to fix 13 security holes in Flash Player, while Microsoft has fixes for at least three dozen flaws in Windows and associated software.

23 flaws that Microsoft fixes reside in Internet Explorer browser. Aside from this it also patches serious problems in Office, Windows O/S and Windows Media Player.

In the mean time Adobe has issued fixes for Flash and AIR software. To check whether your browser has Flash installed or to know which version is running, click here, https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/.

Critical patches

Users of Adobe Flash Player Desktop Runtime for Windows and Macintosh should update to version 18.0.0.160. On Chrome and Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x, Flash should automatically update to the latest version, but Chrome user on Mac will find that the latest version is 18.0.0.161 instead.

Do take note when you download the most recent version of Flash from its homepage, disable unwanted add-ons, like McAfee Security Scan. Uncheck the pre-checked box before downloading it. To force the installation in Chrome, click the triple bar icon to the right of the address bar, select “About Google” Chrome, click the apply update button and restart the browser.
